PICKING SYSTEMS

Benefits

Paperless, Quickly Learned Process, Ease of installation, Improved Accuracy and Throughput, Quick Return on Investment

D.L. Neu works closely with our clients in developing the most effective picking systems. Whether your application is large or small, the operation of the systems is similar. The systems we provide are field tested and proven.

RF Picking

A RF directed picking system operates on a wide range of scanning terminals and directs the order selector to each required pick location. The order selector scans the location bar code to confirm that they are in the correct location. If the correct location is confirmed, the RF unit displays how many units are required from the current location. The operator then confirms the pick by entering the quantity actually picked.

Pick to Light

A pick to light system illuminates lights indicating the locations and quantities of items that need to be selected. The order selector places the indicated quantity into the shipping container and then presses the illuminated button to indicate that the pick is complete. Shorts and replenishment requests as well as completed picks within the pick to light system are updated real time to the WMS or host system. Picking systems can be configured to have different color lights to differentiate between pick to light system zones.

Put to Light

A put to light system operates similar to the pick to light system but it illuminates lights indicating the locations and quantities of items that need to be placed into a shipping carton. SKU’s are batch picked and delivered to the put area. The SKU bar code is scanned and all locations that call for that particular sku light up indicating the quantities required for each location. The order selector places the indicated quantity into the shipping container and then presses the illuminated button to indicate that the put is complete. Shorts as well as completed picks within the put to light system are updated real time to the WMS or host system. Picking systems can be configured to have different color lights to differentiate between pick to light system zones.

Voice Directed Picking

Voice directed picking systems provide audible voice instructions for each pick. All interaction is done verbally through a microphone and headphones. This gives the order selector freedom from paper picking, label picking or RF terminal picking. The order selector confirms all selections verbally allowing their hands to be free for selecting product.

Pick Module Systems

Pick modules condense picking areas and to help increase throughput and accuracy. Often times, RF picking, pick to light or voice directed picking are utilized in conjunction with pick modules to further enhance product throughput and accuracy. Adding a pick module system into your high volume distribution operation allows you to consolidate your picking and replenishment area which in-turn helps lower your overall fulfillment costs.

Pick modules can utilize shelving, pallet rack, pallet flow and/or carton flow racks to expedite the order-fulfillment process. These methods optimize product flow and use of premium warehouse space.

Pick Modules are set up as full case pick, split case pick or a combination of both. Replenishment of pick locations is typically completed on the back side of the system. A full case pick module is replenished with full pallets by a fork lift. A split case pick module has an access aisle for walking and pallet drop locations for operators to cut open cartons so the presentation of items is correct prior to placing them into the back side of the pick lanes.
